Internet news.
We put it on-line some hours ago and the link is: http://www.technosnack.com.

The main objective of this project is creation of a "virtual dashboard" of posts coming from many specialized blog and information about Computers & Internet world, with news about Linux, Windows, Mac, Open sources, Security, Graphics, Symbian and more on...

The key feature is that news come directly from blogosphere. We wish to show a preview of posts, with a link "Read more..." to signed blogs. If users are interested in news, they are redirected to your blog and can read entire post directly from your blog!

So, the different signed blogs can increase their visibility and reach more visitors, all over the world!

We think that in a little of time it can send more visitors to re gistered blogs, contributing to diffusion of know-how about Computer and Technology world.

I visited your blog and I think it has very interesting and useful posts!

So, are you interested in this idea, with your blog?
If yes, then you can register your blog, using the specific "Registration Form"!

REGISTRATION IS ABSOLUTELY FREE!

The only thing we ask to you is to insert TechnoSNACK banner in your blog to promote this project. Or, if you prefer, you can insert a link in your blogroll.

If you like (we whould be happy, but it is not mandatory :-), you can write a post regarding TechnoSNACK project in your blog, to promote this idea.

Bye!
Susan - TechnoSnack's Team

web hosting resources:http://wehosting.blogspot.co...

web hosting resources:

http://wehosting.blogspot.com

hii you have a nice blog can we have a link exchan...

hii you have a nice blog can we have a link exchange...

Plz visit my blog and comment there

Simple Tricks

Several points: - Many articles discuss the sma...

Several points:

- Many articles discuss the small market share of Linux, but never describe what the term means. Market share is the number of copies sold commercially. Since Linux is free, few people purchase Linux commercially (even business, even for servers), giving Linux a tiny markey share (about 3%). A better measure is “installed base”. Estimates of the Linux installed base put it at approximately 2x the Macintosh installed base (about 15%). So in reality, Linux is more than large enough to present an attractive target. Google alone is composed of approximately 500,000 Linux machines. Easily the single most attractive target on the Internet.

- From personal experience, my Linux machines have been under continuous hack attempts for the last 6 years. The attacks are happening, they are active and continuous - they are simply not effective.

- Linux has several security features that modern distributions like Fedore Core sport: ExecShield and SELinux. Unfortunately, Ubuntu does not include either as far as I know. These two facilities prevent “0-day” attacks - attacks on vulnerabilities before they can be corrected. In fact, ExecShield is so effective that Microsoft has essentially copied the functionality for Vista. This is a good thing; as Windows becomes more secure, the whole Internet benefits. Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn’t gone so far as to copy SELinux. This security system limits the damage that can occur, even if ExecShield is bypassed via a secondary bug.

The combination of a strong firewall (IPTABLES), ExecShield, SELinux, and the practices and procedures in open source development make Linux extremely secure.

I should mention that an anti-virus program is available (most people that need one use ClamAV), however, it’s not to protect Linux. When using Linux systems as an email and/or file server for Windows clients, the anti-virus removes Windows viruses, trojans and worms from email and files.

I disagree: Microsoft has a de-facto-monopoly. In ...

I disagree: Microsoft has a de-facto-monopoly. In case of monopolies there is no pressure, no matter how bad the product is. Which is why monopolies are so bad!
So your first claim that Windows will be getting better and better is not working.

Also your claim that Windows is more under attack because it is wider spread does not fit. In other areas of software this behaviour does not happen. Take the Apache web server, for example, which has two third market share. Nothing like you described is happening there.
Also, Linux is wide enough spread in the server area to be a valuable target - still, there are hardly any worms.

And now about Outpost:
You should keep in mind that you try to get more security by adding yet another application. If you do not trust an application, delete it! The main problem of any additional application is that it again introduces new security problems. Most Personal Firewalls for Windows had several security issues in the past - so with using them an attacker was able to hijack a Windows system even when the Windows OS itself was secure - the hacker was able to take over the machine by using vulnerabilities in the firewalls. (Another example)

Last but not least: why would you like to use a firewall on Linux anyway? First of all, in Linux you can just close all open ports you do not want to be accessed - no incoming traffic control needed. Secondly, you can replace/delete every application which tries to call home. So, again, why would you like to use a firewall?

And if you really care about security on Linux systems: well, read about AppArmor and SELinux, there you will see how you can really secure your system.

The whole "Linux is only secure because nobody is ...

The whole "Linux is only secure because nobody is using it" argument has been around for years, and busted many times.
